DIMAPUR, May 12 - The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) the business community in Dimapur may out of helplessness be forced to shut down entire business due to multiple-taxation.

The DCCI, through a press release, appealed to the Nagaland government to immediately intervene and take corrective step.

It said the business community of the commercial hub of the State is totally aghast with the uncountable and uncontrolled illegal collection spree by various Naga political groups on business community in the form of yearly tax, agency tax, gate tax, transport tax, dealership, item-wise tax and syndicate fees being collected.

In simple words, 10-15 taxes are being paid on every item, the DCCI rued.

Maintaining that nowhere in the world with such illegal multiple-taxation on business can thrive, the DCCI said all kinds of business in Dimapur have become unsustainable except the illegal collection business and added that the business community has become totally insecure with threat, intimidation and overburdened with inability to pay such illegal collection.
