IAF conference held in Shillong

SHILLONG, April 28 - The Indian Air Force (IAF) held a three-day conference here to brainstorm on medical preparedness, health and fitness of the IAF.

The conference was attended by 36 medical officers from various Air Force Stations. It focused on the lessons learnt during the Exercise Gaganshakti conducted recently .

Gaganshakti is aimed at working out the modalities during unconventional warfare and mass casualty and evacuation from an Air Force Station in the North East to Kolkata International Airport.

During the conference, various other issues including public health, casualty evacuation, disaster management and aid to civil authorities were also discussed.

The Principal Medical Officer, Eastern Air Command, shared his vision on the future of the IAF medical services with the medical officers and advised them to keep abreast of medical advances and research.

Air Marshal Anil Khosla, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, had inaugurated the conference on April 26, which was also attended by other senior medical officers of all units in the Eastern Air Command.

The AOC-in-C stressed the importance of the role of medical services in operational readiness of the IAF.

He emphasised the importance of �a fit fighting force and maintenance of positive physical, mental and spiritual health.�
