SILCHAR, April 19 - More than 100 students have been reportedly victims of mass hysteria at Sadhin Bazar area under Sonai constituency in recent times.

According to sources, students of 478 Durbikandi LP School, Abid Raza ME School and Sadhin Bazar High School were found to be falling ill and fainted during school hours almost every day during the past one week. While many of the students were taken to nearby hospitals, the villagers rooted to their traditional beliefs were seen rushing to the charmers for exorcism.

Joynal Abedein Barbhuiya, Headmaster of Sadhin Bazar High School on Tuesday said, instances of students falling ill and fainting were happening since March this year, but we have no clue so far.

It may be mentioned that while a section of the locals were tense and believe it to be a ghastly affair, others consider this to be a case of malnutrition, since most of the students hail from poor families.
