High-level meeting on pig breeding policy held

GUWAHATI, Feb 21 - To make Assam�s pig breeding policy a success, a high-level meeting was held on Thursday in the conference hall of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora at Dispur.

Chief executive officer, British Pig Association, Marcus Bates; former advisor, Animal Husbandry department, Government of Punjab, Prof Dr PK Utpal; representative of British High Commission, Ranjinee Phukan and other officials concerned took part in the meeting. Marcus Bates assured of providing high genetic valued pig from England to improve the production of pig in Assam.

The British Pig Association already started pig development works in other North East states as the Association is authorised by the Indian government for the development of piggery sector in the region.
