HC notices on minor�s death

GUWAHATI, March 17 - The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to the State Government, Juvenile Justice Board, Kamrup (Metro), Director General of Assam Police and the officer in-charge of the Bharalumukh Police Station in connection with the mysterious death of a 13-year-old boy earlier this year.

The minor was picked up by Bharalumukh Police from a slum area on February 10 along with two other minors on charges of theft and after producing them before the Juvenile Justice Board, Kamrup (Metro), they were sent to the observation home at Boko.

However, the health condition of the 13-year-old deteriorated during his stay at the observation home after which he was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on February 9.

The minor died the very next day. The respondents have been asked to reply within six weeks� time.
