HC intervention on ACA issue hailed

GUWAHATI, July 26 - The Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA), in its annual general meeting held here today, welcomed the Gauhati High Court intervention on the recent situation of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA).

The VCAA, however, opposed the proposal of handing over the Barsapara cricket stadium to a trust. The veteran cricketers� body also appealed the ACA to include 30 percent former Ranji cricketers in its governing body.

The VCAA has decided to hold the veteran inter district cricket tournament at Jorhat.

The former cricketers appealed all section to create a cordial atmosphere so that the Assam Ranji team can perform well in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season. This time Assam will play in Group A against top teams of the country, it was stated in a release issued by VCAA president Naba Konwar and secretary Nasir Gul Khan.
