HC directive to govt on permanent GMC market

GUWAHATI, Feb 11 � The Gauhati High Court has directed the State Government to expedite the process of allotment of land to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) for the construction of a permanent market for vegetable vendors on a plot of land within a period of six months.

The order that was passed in response to a writ petition filed by the Guwahati Zila Thalua Sak-Pasali Byabasayee Santha and others, also stated that till the time of completion of the new market, the petitioners shall not be evicted from their present place of business.

�Immediately after the allotment of the land, the GMC shall expedite the process for construction and completion of the market place,� the court order added.
