Hailstorm hits Mizoram border villages

AIZAWL, April 6 - Around 50 houses in Lungphunlian hamlet, in Champhai district of Mizoram bordering Myanmar, were damaged when a massive hailstorm hit the village, sources said.

YMA leaders of the village said hailstones as big as eggs hit the border hamlet on Tuesday evening causing severe damage to the tin-roofed houses of about 400 families.

However, no death and casualty had been reported, according to State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department officials.

Sources said that at least eight houses in neighbouring Tualcheng and Hnahlan villages were damaged by a squall in Lunglei district�s Lungrang village last night.
