KOKRAJHAR, Nov 9 - Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) supremo Hagrama Mohilary is optimistic about forming the BTC government for the fourth term. Talking to media persons at the Aronai complex here today, Mohilary said that although a large number of candidates from different national and regional parties, like the BJP, the Congress, AIUDF, UPPL, GSP, etc, taking part in the BTC election this time, the BPF candidates will eventually win with higher margins in not less than 25 out of the total 40 seats.
He said that the main electoral battle would be fought between the BJP and BPF, and the UPPL will not at all be a factor for the BPFs poll prospects. Mohilary stated that in the last three terms, the BPF-led BTC government worked for the peace and development in this region and hoped that this time, too, the people will cast their votes in favour of the BPF. He also informed that he had held a series of meetings with all the communities living in the BTC region regarding their issues and assured them to solve them immediately after being voted to power.
Mohilary also revealed that he shared a good understanding with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, because of which he and Dr Sarma have made various statements against each other during different election campaigns.
However, he also alleged that the BJP is hatching a political conspiracy against the BPF ahead of the BTC polls. However, he also made it clear that the BJP-BPF alliance in the State and at the Centre would remain intact.
