Guwahati retain sr ID cricket title

GUWAHATI, July 1: Defending champions Guwahati retained the title in the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.

In the final, Guwahati got the better of NF Railway Sports Association by virtue of their first innings lead as the three-day match ended in a draw at the Judges� Field here today.

Resuming at an overnight score of 133/4, Guwahati finished the first innings at 221 in 66.5 overs.

In reply, the NF Railway batsmen failed to hit form and were all out for 147 in 35.5 overs. Sib Sankar Roy top scored with 43.

Rahul Hazarika of Guwahati was adjudged Man-of-the-Final while NFRSA�s Sib Sankar Roy received the best batsman of the tournament award. Amlanjyoti Das of Barpeta walked away with the best bowler trophy and Riyan Parag of Guwahati was handed over the Player-of-the-Tournament award.

In the closing ceremony prizes were distributed by Assam Cricket Association president Romen Dutta, secretary Devajit Saikia, vice president Porikhit Dutta, treasurer Tridip Konwar, secretary of the Udalguri DSA Arabinda Das, former Ranji cricketers Amal Das, Shankar Datta Lahkar, Rajib Phukan, Rajesh Borah, Nasir Gul Khan and ACA CEO Sujit Kakati.
