MANGALDAI, April 19 - The Gauhati University Inter College Basketball Tournament for both boys and the girls got off to a colourful start at the Mangaldai College premises with a three-day programme.
In the inaugural match played in the boys category, host Mangaldai College beat Hojai College 35-18 points.
On the other hand, in the girls event where only two teams have participated, Gauhati University team got the better of Mangaldai College 25-10.
Earlier, in the inaugural function Prof HP Sarma, Rector, Gauhati University; Ranjan Kakati, Director, Youth Welfare, Gauhati University; Sreejith T, Superintendent of Police Darrang; Dr Jaykanta Saharia, president Management and Development Committee of the college, Dr Nagendra Nath Sarma, retired HoD, Political Science Department, among others were present.
