Green Valley through to semis

GUWAHATI, March 15 � Green Valley Sports Club and ASEB Sports Club played goal less draw in the last league match of 4th Airtel Assam State Premier League at Nehru Stadium here today.

With this drawn match Green Valley toppled ASEB in the point table and became second team of the Guwahati leg and qualified for the semifinals. Now they will play against Assam Rifles, top team of Diphu leg in the second semifinal on March 18. In the first semifinal Oil India Limited (OIL) Football Club will play against Morning Star on March 17. Green Valley today enjoyed distinct territorial supremacy and should have won the match comfortably. Salau Nurudeen Olawale, Maneswar Mushahary and Apurba Phukan missed easy sitters. When maneswar�s shot hit the cross piece, Nurudeen missed the target from point blank position.

ASEB defenders, including goal keeper Daoga Brahma, played a safe game today and foiled all the opponent move with some timely tackles. Their frontliners Nitu Narzary, Sayed Ansar and Priyo Kumar Singh tried to cruise through into the Green Valley goal area but their final passes were not accurate to beat the opponent defenders.
