Govt to provide LED bulbs at subsidised rates

GUWAHATI, July 31 - With a view to promoting energy saving methods, the Government of Assam has started an endeavour through the Assam Hydrocarbon & Energy Company Ltd (AHECL) to provide LED bulbs at subsidized rates through the SBI, Assam Secretariat Branch, Guwahati, a press release stated.

The process of distribution was today inaugurated by Girindra Mullik, Minister, Mines & Minerals, Prisons, etc., in the presence of RT Jindal, MD, AHECL along with officials of the State Bank of India and other guests at the SBI branch.

It may be mentioned that an LED bulb consumes 90 per cent less energy than normal bulbs and 50 per cent less than CFL bulbs.
