GUWAHATI, May 26 - Noting the losses suffered by piggery farmers, the State government on Tuesday revoked the blanket ban on the sale of pork in Assam after experts stated that there is no chance of African Swine Fever infection in humans.

Veterinary Minister Atul Bora informed that till today Bortamuli village in Biswanath district, Pipliguri village in Dhemaji district, Kotiari, Bhatgash, Nitaipukhuri and Kheluoi in Sivasagar district, Bormukoli village in Jorhat district and Gorchuk area in Kamrup (Metro) district have been identified as epicentres of the African Swine Fever.

The ban will also be applicable in the areas where pigs died because of African Swine Fever-like diseases.
