Govt grant to artistes, technicians

GUWAHATI, Dec 17 - The State government will provide a one-time grant of Rs 50,000 each to 2,000 artistes and technicians of the State.

Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley today said his department will soon implement the scheme following the direction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The government has decided to offer the financial assistance under the schemes �Silpi Sambardhana� and �Bhramyaman Theatre Silpi Aru Kala-Kushali Achoni� that will cover a total of 2,000 artistes and technicians.

Artistes of different indigenous art forms will be provided with the grant under the �Silpi Sambardhana� scheme. Grassroots artistes will also be brought under its ambit.

The State government has also decided to offer financial assistance to artistes and technicians engaged in mobile theatre groups considering the contribution of mobile theatres to the cultural landscape of the State.
