TEZPUR, Dec 20 - Expressing immense satisfaction over the ongoing works of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi said that every State of the country should maintain an NRC and this should be interlinked with the Adhaar Card.
Interacting with media personnel here on Tuesday, the Governor said that all illegal foreigners have to be deported through a positive legal process. �India is not a dharamshala and it will not accommodate any illegal foreigner�, he said.
Talking about the Nagalim pact, he said that the people of the two States are maintaining cordial relations with each other. However, some people are doing politics on this issue to gain political mileage. Integrity of each and every State will be maintained, he said adding that the Union Home Minister has already assured to maintain the integrity of the State.
The Governor also stated that small and medium industries are a boon for the country. The State and Central Government must take some initiative so that small industries can flourish for the development of both the rural and urban economies. He further stated that big industries are now very much keen to invest in the State and the local industries can help them a lot in this regard.
Speaking about Tezpur, he said that the town and it�s adjoining areas are culturally strong. �There are ample opportunities in the agricultural and heritage sectors and these must be taken up in right earnest to make Tezpur a tourist�s hub.�
He also directed the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur to take steps to maintain cleanliness in every school, college, hospital, police station etc., and also to monitor them every month. Earlier, he held a meeting with the Army, Police, ITBP, CRPF and other security agencies regarding counter- insurgency operations in the district and its neighbouring areas.
Later, he attended the closing ceremony of the four-day-long industrial trade fair �Uddyam-17� and praised the people for taking part in the event.
