Gorkha Rifles jawan from Sadiya killed in J-K

DOOMDOOMA, July 14 - Arun Kumar Rai (31), a jawan of the Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, who was engaged in the Keran Sector along the Indo-Pak border in Kupwada district of Jammu & Kashmir, sustained bullet injuries while fighting against militants on July 10 evening. He was rushed to a hospital in Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries on July 11.

Rai hails from Burha-Burhi village of Sadiya in Tinsukia district. He leaves behind his wife, parents, four brothers and two sisters. One of his brothers, Prakash Rai, has been selected for recruitment to the Indian Army and he is likely to join in September this year.

Rai�s body was brought to his village on Wednesday. Before his cremation with full military honours, the Army, civil administration and various organisations of Sadiya offered their last tributes to the martyr.
