KALIABOR, Jan 23 - The year-long golden jubilee function of Kaliabor College which was established in 1969, will begin from January 31 next.
In this connection, a golden jubilee celebration committee was constituted in a public meeting held last year with Keshab Mahanta, MLA as president, NN Hazarika, retired Principal, as executive president and Dr HK Chaliha, Principal, as general secretary along with assistant secretaries and sub- committees etc. The first meeting of the celebration committee was held recently under the chairmanship of NN Hazarika, executive president with due consent of the president where the meeting unanimously decided to begin the golden jubilee function with a day-long programme on January 31. This includes the hoisting of 50 flags by selected persons of the locality, smriti tarpan, swahid tarpan, installation of a new gate donated by the teaching staff of Kaliabor College, public meeting etc. In the evening, the programmes will feature artist Robin Bora and a drama performance by ex-students. Dipak Sarma, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit University, Nalbari has been invited as the special speaker while Gunin Hazarika, ex-lecturer of the college will deliver a speech on the college.
Earlier, Dr HK Chaliha, general secretary welcomed all and submitted a detailed programme. The next programmes will be fixed after January 31.
