Foundation day of Teok Press Club observed

TEOK, June 5 - The 21st foundation day of the Teok Press Club was celebrated at Teok Girls� HS School today. A meeting was held on the occasion, which was presided over by Nirmalendu Pathak, president of the press club. It was inaugurated by Pranjit Kakoti, ADC, Jorhat.

Dr Akhil Chakraborty, former president, Asom Natya Sanmilan, and noted dramatist, spoke on the role played by journalists in the society. Dr Chakraborty also released a book titled Patyae edited by Prashil Bora.

Speaking in the meeting as the appointed speaker, Rajen Sarmah Tamuly, senior journalist and president, Titabar Press Club, spoke on the challenges, limitations and present status of journalism in the State. Tamuly also released a book, Juganayak Sankardev, written by Nabajyoti Saikia.

The members of the press club also felicitated Renupoma Rajkhowa, newly elected MLA of Teok, in the function. Rafique-uz-Zaman, chairman, Teok Town Committee, also spoke in the meeting. Earlier, mangalacharan was presented by artiste Ashok Borah. The welcome address was delivered by Riju Kumar Saikia, vice president of the press club.
