Folk song artiste Dimbeswsar Das passes away

BARPETA, Feb 19 - Veteran folk song artiste and a government artiste pensioner Dimbeswar Das breathed his last at 1 am on Monday night at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital after prolonged illness. Das was a regular artiste of All India Radio who could create a massive base of fans throughout the State by his flawless performance.

He was suffering from a kidney ailments for a long time and was admitted to the GMCH for 19 days before his demise.

He was 75 and is survived by his wife , two sons and two daughters. He was associated with a number of organisations in Barpeta including the Asom Natya Sanmilan.

As his mortal remains were brought to his Bhakatpara Patharhati residence here, several people turned up to pay their last respects to the departed soul. Kumar Dipak Das, president of Asom Natya Sanmilan, Hemen Das and Kushal Kumar Gayan, president and working president of Janantik a socio-cultural organisation, Dr Mukul Das, secretary of Pinak, Dr Kamal Krishna Das, president of Barpeta Sahitya Sabha, Krishnakanta Das, president of Barpeta district committee of AASU and several dignitaries paid their last respect to the departed soul.
