Flood scene in State worsens

GUWAHATI, July 7 - The overall flood situation in Assam worsened following incessant rains, which affected around 1.53 lakh people of eight districts of the State.

The flood bulletin released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority this evening revealed that Lakhimpur is the worst affected district as more than 52,000 people have been affected, while Biswanath, Majuli and Golaghat are the other badly affected districts.

The bulletin said that urban floods affected 12 localities of Kamrup (Metro) district and two persons lost their lives due to landslide in Jorabat area.

The Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level in Neamatighat, Tezpur, Guwahati and Dhubri.
