Flood hits Tamulpur sub-division

GORESWAR, June 30 - Several rivers under Tamulpur sub-division are now flowing above the danger level in Baksa district in the backdrop of heavy downpour since the past several days.

According to official sources, overflowing water of Puthimari, Barnadi, Sukla Pagladiya, Matanga, Baraliya and Balti rivers have inundated Barbilla, Chalikanda, Guwagachi, Chapatal, Kawli, Bishnupur, Narayanpur, Sessapani, Khairani, Ghilajhar, Bhalukmari, Barimakha, Khatarbari, Bhaouraguri, Nizkachula, Chenigaon and Barpathar villages.

A large number of houses have been washed away by the rising waters that have left many people homeless.

Standing crops have also been affected by the flood waters.

The affected people have sought flood relief from the authorities concerned considering the gravity of the situation.
