IMPHAL, June 9 - Two industrial units were badly damaged after a deadly fire broke out at Takyel Industrial Estate near here this morning.

Though the cause of the fire could not be established immediately, it is believed a short circuit led to the fire.

The fire broke out at around 7 am today and caused damages worth lakhs of rupees in Manipur Plastic Industries and Loktak Industries in the Industrial Estate.

The fire service team with help from locals controlled the fire around 9 am.

Commerce and Industries Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh inspected the industrial estate to take stock of the damages. He instructed the officials to identify non-allocated or unoccupied work sheds where the affected units could be shifted.
