Financial aid to poor meritorious students

GUWAHATI, June 16 - The CM Hostel Alumni Association (of erstwhile Cotton College) has introduced a �zakat fund� and collected �zakat� from its members and well-wishers for the purpose of offering financial assistance to meritorious students coming from financially weak families.

�The results of HSLC and HSSLC examinations were out and the collection of �zakat� is also going to be over by the end of the Ramzan month. The Association is offering �zakat� to such deserving students who have secured 80 per cent or more marks in the HSSLC exam and 85 per cent or more marks in the HSLC exam,� it said in a press release.

Interested students have been asked to contact the Association�s general secretary, the release added.
