Fashion show on State handloom products

GUWAHATI, Feb 24 - �Titli� � a fashion show on exclusive handloom products of Assam, was organised at Kohuabon Resort, Zoo Narengi Road here on February 23. Twenty-two female models and showstopper Dipannita Sharma, a Mumbai-based supermodel turned Bollywood actress, displayed spring and summer collection by handloom unit �Shree�.

The show was sponsored by the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles along with a number of co-sponsors, stated a release issued here today.

The chief guest was Ashok Barman, Secretary, Handloom, Textiles and Sericulture Dept, who lighted the ceremonial lamp along with HP Bora, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Handloom, Textiles and Sericulture; Nivedita Hazarika, Jt Director, Town & Country Planning, BTC; Gayatri Baruah, retired IAS and Nandini Kalita, deputy director general, FINER.

Shree is a registered MSME unit based at Mathgharia, Guwahati, which was launched by Bhavna Priya Kalita, a young graduate from RV College of Engineering. Shree works on various unique colour combinations and motifs to make the Assamese traditional mekhela sador look royal and trendy. The show was held during daylight as the collection was prepared in pastel colour using eri, muga and mulberry silk. Emcee Pooja J Hanse hosted the show directed by Medha Saikia. Choreography was by Meenu Paul, music by DJ Nick and production by Upstream Entertainment.
