Farmers interact with Modi via video conferencing

UDALGURI, Dec 26 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi released Rs 18,000 crore as the second instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme to more than 90 million farmers on December 25 last via video conferencing.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Udalguri also conducted an interaction programme on PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi at village Kacharital of Udalguri district and webcasted the programme of release of PM Kisan money to the farmers.

The Prime Minister also had a conversation with farmers from six different states during the event. The farmers shared their experiences with the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme and also on various other initiatives taken up by the government for the welfare of farmers. More than 170 farmers attended the programme. The farmers who interacted during the virtual meet expressed their satisfaction.

It may be noted that financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmers, payable in three equal four-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000 each through direct benefit transfer under the PM-KISAN Scheme.

The PM-KISAN scheme was launched on February 24, 2019 with an aim to augment the income of the farmers by providing support to all landholding farmer families across the country in order to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities, as well as domestic needs.
