Farmers attend training on wheat seed at AAU

NAGAON, March 19 - As many as 50 farmers from Nagaon, Hojai and Morigaon districts and agriscientists attended a training programme on wheat seed organised by the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Shillongani, at Assam Agriculture University in Jorhat.

Joint Director of Agriculture Kailash Talukdar inaugurated the event. Dr PK Pathak, Associate Director of Research at AAU, said the training on wheat seed was the first of its kind in Assam, and proper scientific approach was needed for increase in wheat production in the state. Dr Rajkumar, Principal Scientist at ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, said his institute would extend support for various activities in this field.

Dr N Deka, Head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Nagaon, Principal Scientist Dr TP Saikia and Chief Scientist Dr PK Das were also present.
