Extortionists nabbed by public in Garo Hills

TURA, April 1 - Two extortionists, who had come to Rongkhon village, Boldorengre on the outskirts of Tura, were nabbed by local residents before being handed over to police.

The duo were, however, roundly beaten up by the public before being handed over to the police. The two extortionists, according to locals, were a part of a gang of criminals.

Sources said that the two had come to extort money from a lawyer and were caught before they were able to get their hold on money.

The two extortionists have been identified as David Marak of Ronshu in South Garo Hills and Namas N Sangma of Rongjeng in East Garo Hills.
