Exodus of doctors feared at Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 13 � Like the situation in Kokrajhar, a mass exodus of doctors has been feared at Biswanath Chariali, following heavy extortion demands by extremist groups.

According to sources, at least five senior doctors of Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital have received such demands over mobile phones from the anti-talk factions of NDFB and ANLA.

Phone calls have been received from unknown destinations on several occasions by the said doctors.

On the other hand, the local people of the northern parts of Biswanath subdivision alleged that NDFB and ANLA cadres are moving around freely with firearms in those areas, including in the tea gardens and have been extorting money from the people of every walks of life. As a result of this many families have fled from Pabhoi, Balichang, Selaikhati, Tinisuti, Bhimajuli etc.
