SHILLONG, May 8 - Former Rajya Sabha member, Minister and senior Congress leader, Onward L Nongtdu (78) passed away at his residence here on Saturday after a brief illness.
Nongtdu is survived by his wife and four children.
In 1972, he first won the Assembly elections from Sutnga constituency, Jaintia Hills. He was the Rajya Sabha member from 1996 to 2002. During his career in State politics, he held several portfolios in the Cabinet.
