Ex-MLA Habul Chakraborty passes away

TEZPUR, Feb 16 - Ex-MLA of Dhekiajli LAC in Sonitpur district Habul Chakraborty passed away this morning at Tezpur Medical College following a cardiac arrest. He was 60.

A resident of ward No. 7 of Dhekiajuli town, he was an active and dedicated worker of the Indian National Congress. He represented the Dhekiajuli LAC on a Congress ticket from 2011- 2016. Besides his close association with common people and the different socio-cultural and national organisations and different communities of the constituency he also served the Dhekiajuli Municipal Board as its chairman during the period 1996 to 2001.

Before his last rites were performed, different organisations, party leaders and the local MLA Ashok Singhal paid their last respects to the departed soul.

Our Staff Reporter adds: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora and Finance Minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma have condoled the demise of Habul Chakraborty.

Expressing shock and grief over the passing away of the former MLA, the Brahmon Sobha termed it as an irreparable loss.

Chakraborty was the chief advisor of the Brahmon Sobha.
