Euro 2012 soccer trophy arrives in Ukraine

KIEV, May 12 (IANS): UEFA Euro 2012 trophy arrived in Ukraine and will be exhibited in several locations in a campaign meant to promote the event that the country will co-host with Poland this summer.

The prestigious Henri Delaunay Trophy, named after the first General Secretary of UEFA, was presented Friday in the Column Hall of the Kiev City Administration by former world famous striker Davor Suker of Croatia and Ukrainian football legend Andrey Shevchenko.

The Euro 2012 cup, weighing 7.6 kg, will be on display at the Independence Square in Kiev over the weekend.

Fans from other Ukrainian cities, in particular Ivano-Frankovsk, Kharkov, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk and Lvov will be able to touch the football history, represented by the Euro 2012 Trophy during the next two weeks.
