Erosion by Baralia poses threat

NALBARI, July 18 - Massive erosion by Baralia river is causing concern at Garamsing village near Baharghat in Nalbari district. The continuous erosion by the river poses serious threat to the left side of the embankment. It has almost touched the embankment at the village. The Water Resources Department has not taken the erosion by the Baralia river seriously. The Mukalmua subdivisional office of the department has only erected some bamboo spurs as anti-erosion measures. The people bordering Nalbari and Kamrup (Rural) districts have called upon the authorities concerned to take appropriate anti-erosion measures in this area immediately.
