GUWAHATI, June 9 - Governor Banwarilal Purohit has urged the people of Assam to emulate the ideals of Vaishnavite saint Mahapurush Madhavdev.
In a statement here today Purohit said, �Madhavdev carried forward his guru Sankaradeva�s legacy and established several satras, which have shaped the thoughts and beliefs of our land for centuries. Sankaradeva and Madhavdev united our land and gave rise to a common cultural milieu. On the occasion of Madhavdev�s birth anniversary we should all reiterate to strengthen our composite culture on the ideals of these great saints.�
Purohit also wished the people of Assam on the eve of Mahapurush Madhavdev�s birth anniversary and appealed to them to lend their hands to fortify the edifice of Assam which was formed under the influences of Mahapurush Sankaradeva and Madhavdev.
