Elephants creating panic in Hojai

NAGAON, May 8 - A herd of wild elephants has been creating panic at Thepelaguri village in Hojai district for the last couple of days and has also damaged a school building and residences of the people of the greater area.

The elephants demolished a storage of mid-day meal articles in a primary school building of the village and ate up some bags of rice stored in a room of the school.

Sources said that the herd has even attacked some residents of the area injuring one Jambulal Daolagafur of Thepelaguri village seriously.

Interestingly, earlier too, the herd had repeatedly created panic in the area and destroyed the same school building and houses of the people of the village. Though the forest personnel are trying their best to prevent the entry of the wild jumbos into the village, yet success has eluded them till now.
