Elderly man walks 100 km on his way home

BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 28 - An octogenarian walked 100 km on his way home to Laluk in Lakhimpur district and arrived here totally exhausted on Thursday evening.

According to information, Khagen Baruah (80) of Laluk had gone to Guwahati to meet his son who works there and returned home on the day before the lockdown was declared. He arrived in Kaliabor by bus but from there, could not manage any vehicle to go to Laluk. So, he decided to travel on foot and somehow arrived here. But, by the time he arrived here, his physical condition had deteriorated badly. He was also robbed of whatever belongings he had.

Some locals noticed him and admitted him to a private nursing home. Baruah was released from the hospital on Friday after being given medical treatment. Biswanath police managed to send him to his home safely on Friday.
