East Coast, Metro in control

GUWAHATI, March 22 - East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECRSA) and Metro Railway Sports Association (MRSA) are in command on the opening day of the two-day quarterfinal matches of the 61st All India Inter Railway Cricket Tournament.

At the Assam Cricket Association�s Barsapara stadium here today, ECRSA scored 193 all out in 68 overs of the 90-over match and at the end of the day�s play Central Railway Sports Association (CRSA) were tottering at 63 for the loss of three wickets in 22 overs.

In the other quarterfinal match at the NF Railway SA ground, Maligaon, Metro Railway smacked up a mammoth 392 for nine in 90 overs on the opening day against North Western Railway (NWRSA).

For the Metro team, Anustup Mazumdar (86, 122B, 4x8), Md Ziauddin (72, 120B, 4x9), Sudip Chatterjee (71, 88B, 4x8, 6x1), Sanjib Sanyal (56, 89B, 4x4, 6x1) were the leading run getters. NWRSA will bat tomorrow with a victory target of 393 in 90 overs.

Brief scores: ECRSA 193 (Sujit Lenka 48, Subit Biswal 35, Abhisek Yadav 31, G Shankar Rao 29, Lagnajit Samal 23; Vinit Dhulop 3/41, Harshad Rawle 3/43, Salil Agharkar 3/51). CRSA 63/3 in 22 overs (Harshad Rawle 15 n.o, Amit Paunikar 13, Vinit Dhulop batting 10).
