Drugs worth Rs 1 crore seized

AIZAWL, July 7 - Supply Reduction Service (SRS), the anti-narcotic squad constituted by Young Mizo Association has seized drugs worth over Rs 1 crore during the last four months. Sources said that the SRS started the campaign against drugs in March this year and in the previous year they have seized drugs worth over Rs 90 lakh.

Of the drugs seized, heroine constitutes the highest value followed marijuana (ganja) and prescription drugs. The SRS said that the number of persons consuming ganja has increased since last year.

At least 1,927 people have so far been arrested in connection with drugs and some of them have been re-rearrested.
