Drug peddler flees from JMCH, rearrested

JORHAT, July 2 - A youth identified as Suraj Chetri, arrested by Golaghat Police on June 22 from the district on charges of drug peddling, who was brought to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for treatment, fled from the JMCH premises on Monday.

A police source stated that Chetri allegedly fled from JMCH while going to the toilet. Efforts were on by Golaghat and Jorhat Police to nab him.

The source said that Chetri, a resident of Moinapara area, off Golaghat town, was arrested from Thuramukh area of Golaghat district on charges of involvement in drug peddling.

He was admitted to the Golaghat District Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital following illness and was, thereafter, referred to the JMCH for advanced treatment, the source said.

According to latest information received here today, Chetri was rearrested from Karbi Anglong last night.
