Drone for surveillance of forests

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, July 24 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today unveiled a surveillance quadcopter (drone) and an anti-depredation quick response vehicle, which will help intensify vigil and curb man-animal conflict.

With the inauguration of the vehicle at the Janata Bhawan, an intensified 24X7 surveillance would become possible over the forest cover and check incidents of man-animal conflict.

The drone would be able to narrow-cast any purported movement of poachers in the national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and other reserve forests.
