GUWAHATI, May 18 - President of Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association (GSCA) DN Chakravartty has condoled the death of Digendranath Barua, founder Managing Director of AIDC and the oldest member of GSCA who had passed away on Saturday.
Chakravartty described Barua as a great visionary and the most outstanding figure in the industrialisation and economic development of the State.
GSCA at its annual meeting in 2019 had felicitated Barua for his outstanding service for the cause of industrial development of Assam in particular and generation of the spirit of adventure among the younger generation of the State.
Chakravartty appealed to the Government of Assam to honour Barua even posthumously and confer on him an appropriate title in recognition of his outstanding services.
Noted social activist and founder president of Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) Dhiren Baruah has condoled the death of Digendra Nath Barua, the first chemical engineer of the north-eastern region and former MD of AIDC.
Recalling his personal association with Barua, Dhiren Baruah remembered him as an industrious person with a genuine urge to contribute to society.
�DN Barua�s death is an irreparable loss to the Assamese society. Leaders like him are an asset for any society,� Baruah stated in his condolence message, extending his sympathies to the members of the bereaved family.
