GUWAHATI, Nov 20 - �The differently able children are always unique, especially with their sharp memory, and it is our duty to work for their entire development.� Assam�s Social Welfare Department Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said while taking part in a programme of the Universal Children�s Day at Guwahati Blind School here today.
The programme was organised by the school in collaboration with the Amway.
As part of the event, a cultural programme was also held where the visually-impaired students of the school showcased various performances and participated in a computer typing competition.
Commenting on the occasion, Bhaben Barman, Principal of Guwahati Blind School, said, �Our aim is to give the children time off from the regular routine and engage them in fun activities, which ultimately builds their self-confidence and increases their exposure. Over the years, Children�s Day has become a special occasion for our children and they enthusiastically look forward to celebrating it.�
Inspector of Schools, Guwahati, Buli Gogoi, and president of Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam, Nripen Malakar, also took part in the event.
