DIBRUGARH, July 13 - After detection of 38 new Covid-19 positive cases yesterday, the district here today recorded the highest single-day spike of 53 new cases, Health officials here informed.
Confirming the highest detection cases today, Nodal Officer and Joint Director of Health Services, Dr Nabajyoti Gogoi told The Assam Tribune that the district is already in the community transmission stage.
Among the 53 Covid-19 positive cases detected today, 12 are police personnel. The swab samples of senior cops � Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police and Officer-in-Charge of Dibrugarh Sadar PS, however, tested negative for Covid-19. The affairs in the office of the SP have been restricted to most important activities only with limited number of staff.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen altogether to 387 until 5 this evening. This cumulative figure, however, also includes personnel from the Army, CRPF and Air Force besides the general public and the health workers.
Maximum cases have been detected from the Barman Nagar area today. Till yesterday, when the positive cases in the district stood at 326, some 156 COVID-19 cases recovered and were discharged.
