Dhubri prepares for Independence Day

GAURIPUR, July 18 � In order to celebrate the 68th Independence Day in a befitting manner, a preparatory meeting was organised on July 15 last in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Kumud Chandra Kalita.

While presiding over the meting, he appealed to all sections of the people to actively participate in the official programmes on Independence Day. The police, para-military forces and the NCC cadets are scheduled to participate actively. The Deputy Commissioner in his speech appealed to the municipality to clean the streets, roads and the parks well ahead of the auspicious day.

The programme will start from 6 am and will continue to 5 pm. The ceremonial flag hoisting programme will be held at 9 am on the historic Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua play-ground. The meet was attended by a host of dignitaries from all sections of people of the district.
