ITANAGAR, July 23 - Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district has been hit by a dengue scare with reports of over 325 confirmed cases coming in here.
According to the data released by the Pasighat General Hospital authority, 1,157 fever cases have been reported but there is no report of death so far. Calls are being received from the patients, with even slight bout of fever, seeking admission in the hospital. Unnecessary panic among the people has hit the health infrastructure.
The Director of Health Services Dr Kartik Nishing yesterday paid a visit to the Pasighat hospital to take stock of the ground realities. Dr Nishing along with district medical officer Dr M Perme, Dr YR Darang, SPO (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa and SPO (NVBDCP) Dr A Yirang also interacted with the patients to know their wellbeing and wished for immediate recovery. He also met on duty doctors (OPDs) and inspected clinical laboratory. Dr Nishing said that the cases of mosquito-borne disease have gone up significantly that reflect a grim picture as far as the number of cases is concerned. Microbiologist Dr B Apum told the Director that she is updating the State and Central Health authorities.
Meanwhile, a four-member team from Indian Council of Medical Research, Dibrugarh arrived at Pasighat to conduct survey followed by research and vector identification.
