ITANAGAR, Sept 26 Arunachal Pradesh today made it clear that it would not tolerate any delay in execution of power projects in the State for which memorandum of understandings (MoUs) have already been inked with various power developers.

Responding to a short duration discussion raised in the House by NCP member Ralom Borang on Hydro power projects in Arunachal and its impact on socio-economic welfare of the State, Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin informed that the State Government had given specific timeframe to the developers for submitting the detailed project reports (DPRs) and execution of projects.

Borang while initiating the discussion drew the attention of the House that many developers have prepared DPRs sitting in their corporate offices without visiting the project sites and making in-depth study of the hydrology and other factors of the area.

The State Government will never tolerate such casual approach and will never hesitate to cancel MoUs with those agencies who have prepared DPRs without ground verification of the sites and accessing other environmental factors, Gamlin emphatically said.

To a question regarding peoples opposition to mega dams which could adversely affect their existence following largescale influx of outside labourers, the Chief Minister assured to take care of the issue and urged the members to convince the locals on the benefits of power projects in the State which would improve the States economy. PTI
