Curfew relaxed in Tuensang

DIMAPUR, Feb 12 � Following gradual improvement in the law and order situation in Tuensang town, the district administration has relaxed the day curfew imposed in the town.

The district magistrate, in an order, said promulgation of Section 144 CrPc and imposition of curfew during the day has been lifted with effect from 5 am on February 12. However, the night curfew from 5 pm to 6 am will continue to be in force till further order, he informed.

The order directed the public to remain indoors during the curfew hours at night.

The administration had promulgated Section 144 CrPc and curfew in Tuensang town on February 8 following the volatile situation.

Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister P Longon, who hails from Tuensang district, has appealed to the Chang and Yimchunger tribes, engaged in conflict in the district, to maintain utmost restraint at any cost.
