CPM MLA, workers injured in Tripura attack

AGARTALA, May 25 - At least three CPI (M) leaders were injured when a group of BJP supporters pelted stones at them near the SDM�s office at Belonia today.

Trilukesh Sinha, a member of the South District CPI (M) committee, was seriously injured as he was hit on the head. MLA Sudhan Das and South Tripura CPI (M) secretary Tapas Dutta also suffered injuries in the stone-pelting incident.

The CPI (M) delegation was returning to the party office after giving a representation to the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Belonia, when its mambers came under attack at 12.30 pm, said SP (Control) Pradip Dey here.

�Three to four persons were injured in the attack and SP (South) Jal Singh Meena rushed to the spot with a heavy reinforcement. Now the situation is under control,� said Dey.
