CPM for Centres intervention in Manipur

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

AGARTALA, May 18 CPI-M today demanded Central intervention in Manipur to resolve the ongoing crisis arising out of the State Governments decision not to allow the NSCN-IM leader Thuingaleng Muivah to enter into the State.

The Centre should immediately intervene in the situation in Manipur and solve the problem in consultation with the State Government, CPI-M central committee member Bijon Dhar told reporters here.

Peace talks between the Centre and NSCN-IM must continue and the ongoing peace process should not be stopped anyway, he said.

Ultimately it was the people in Manipur who were suffering as the price of essential commodities has sky rocketed and even tinned baby food and life saving drugs are not available at their price. PTI
