DIMAPUR, July 2 - COVID-19 cases in Nagaland shot up to 535 with the detection of 34 new cases on Thursday.
�34 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected out of 226 samples tested,� Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.
Of the new cases, 32 are from the Peren quarantine centre, and one each from the Kohima and Dimapur quarantine centres.
Phom said of the 535 positive cases, 353 cases are still active while 182 patients have recovered. He added that there was no death due to COVID-19 in the State.
Meanwhile, Peren Deputy Commissioner Sentiwapang Aier, in an order issued on Thursday, declared the Dobashi colony in Jalukie town and adjoining areas, and ward number 5 in Tening town as containment zones with immediate effect in pursuance of the standard operating procedure laid down by the State Government. The order was issued following detection of COVID-19 cases among those sent to home quarantine in these areas.
He asked the administrative officer/subdivisional task force for COVID-19 to immediately demarcate and barricade the containment zones to prevent community spread of the infection.
The order said contact tracing and other medical protocols by the medical department should commence immediately.
